Energy drinks have bad influence on cardiac rhythm

Comments Off 03 June 2011

Doctors warn that children should not be given to drink energy drinks because they contain caffeine and other stimulants that kids do not need and which can disrupt heart rhythms and cause other side effects and health problems.

Energy drinks also contain vitamins and some extracts of which children are not needed because their bodies are still developing. Earlier this year in the journal “Pediatric” published another report in which pediatricians warn that energy drinks may cause seizures, kidney problems and liver damage in children. Although such cases are rare, doctors warn that there is a danger.

Doctors say that the water is the healthiest for children, and if the child is intensely involved in sports, it is good to drink and a sports drink because it has sugar in them. If the child is engaged in some intense sports and less active, you may want to avoid the sports and energy drinks because it would be hit the few extra pounds.

In most cases it is difficult to label the bottle to estimate how much caffeine is in the product. Some energy drinks by the bottle with more than 500 mg caffeine, equivalent to 14 cans of soft drink.

Color of urine indicates the disease

Comments Off 18 May 2011

Changes of appearance and smell of urine can be a timely warning to the disturbances in the body.

Urine control may be the time to discover some symptoms of the disease and prevent its deterioration. Urine is necessary to control when you notice changes in color, turbidity, changes in the smell, or frequent or difficult urination.

In infants and children, this type of analysis should be done with any fever of unknown origin, or high fever of unknown origin. Among adults, without symptoms, control of urine should be done annually.

A more detailed and precise examination of urine, urine culture should be done when the findings of urine indicates a urinary infection, ie. when the increased number of leukocytes, when there are positive nitrites in urine, an increased number of red blood cells, and positive ketones. Urine culture is required for the elevated temperature of unknown origin.

Bad results of urine may point to diabetes mellitus (sugar positive and positive ketones in the urine) at some advanced kidney disease, the acute and chronic renal insufficiency, as well as urinary tract infection.

Science in health

Comments Off 28 February 2011

Where would we be without scientific discoveries in health domain (look at: health insurance quotes). I said definitelly not here. Science has allowed us to have a better understanding of how the human body works and how the environment, food, and activities affect us. Science has given us the ability to lengthen life-spans, and cure diseases that were once considered deadly.
Burglars essentially operate under the criteria of two things: stealth and speed. According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and most law enforcement agencies, a burglars primary goal is to be able to steal from residence without being seen or caught. The second factor that plays into a burglar’s mind is how fast he or she can commit the crime. If a home does not meet this criteria, the likelihood for a break-in drops by over 90 percent.

Now that you know this two things you should think about alarms and other safety devices that could help you protect your home and yourself. Login to google and find company with latest scientific achievements in field of home security and get yourself latest alarm. Don’t by a gun, that is bad idea, and can cause injuries, I don’t recommend this.

Vitamin D deficiency causes pulmonary disease

Comments Off 18 February 2011

New research shows that vitamin D deficiency is widespread among patients withinterstitial lung disease, most prevalent in patients with connective tissue diseases.

Researchers at the Medical colleges of the University of Cincinnati analyzed vitamin D levels in 67 patients with interstitial lung disease and diseases of connective tissue from51 patients with other forms of connective tissue disease. The results showed that the frequency of complete lack of vitamin D were 38% and its failure in 59%.

Those patients with interstitial lung disease and connective tissue diseases are a farbetter chance of vitamin D deficiency (52 percent v. 20 percent) and its failure (79percent v. 31 percent) compared to other forms of interstitial lung disease. In patientswith interstitial lung disease and connective tissue diseases, reduced levels of vitamin Dis strongly associated with reduced lung function. The researchers conclude that vitaminD plays a role in the pathogenesis of interstitial lung disease.

External defibrillator

Comments Off 02 August 2010

Police officers are now finding themselves involved in a different type of attacks. The handcuffing position is now giving way to the heart attack.
Aedmasters defibrillators are beginning to find their way into police cars throughout the United States. Police officers aren’t considered medical rescuers but defibrillators are so easy to use and lives can so readily be saved that it’s only logical to include them in the gear of men and women who may very well be first on the scene.
An external defibrillator requires just a few hours’ training to use effectively. Defibrillators are essentially “dummy proof”. Incorrectly attaching the patches to a victim will render the machine less effective but not make the situation worse. If the machine isn’t hooked perfectly to the victim’s body, it’ll still be helpful.
As more police agencies adopt the use of defibrillators the role of police as first responders to emergencies takes on a new dimension. Officers have long been trained on basic CPR and first aid levels. CPR has been stressed but the skills are still elusive to officers who have seldom or never used them. External defibrillators allow even the most inexperienced rescuer to increase the chances of survival of heart attack victims.
Emergency rescue crews have had external defibrillators on board for a long time and make good use of them on a regular basis. External defibrillators are even mounted on walls in public buildings with the instructions included so that anyone can intervene in a life-threatening cardiac arrest. Some people are buying them for their homes if someone there is at high risk for cardiac arrest.
The next time you hear a police siren the cruiser may be heading to another kind of emergency. You can respect your men and women in blue for that.
